Last Friday saw the return of the GM Show N Shine car show and United Way Niagara was thrilled to participate in the event once again. Car enthusiasts from all over the region came to show off their vehicles and to appreciate impressive vehicular craft, all while supporting a great cause. Many locals also chipped in to our $500 prize raffle – of which the winning ticket was #176504. The prize has not yet been claimed, please contact us at 905-688-5050 or [email protected] if you hold the winning ticket.
We are so thankful that GM donated all the proceeds from the event to United Way Niagara. These funds will be used to support our Backpacks for Kids program, as we work towards our goal of filling 2,100 backpacks to support youth and families in need this school year. You can learn more about our Backpacks for Kids program and how to support the initiative on our website.
Hopefully next year we can gather again at McKinnon park for more fun fueled times in support of a great cause!
United Way is honoured to acknowledge that Niagara is situated on lands and waters protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum covenant and by diverse treaties. This land is steeped in the rich history of the First Nations such as the Hatiwendaronk, the Haudenosaunee, and the Anishinaabe, including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. There are many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people from across Turtle Island that live and work in Niagara today. United Way Niagara, stands with all Indigenous people, past and present, in promoting the wise stewardship of the lands on which we live, share, work and gather.
