Thanks to the incredible efforts demonstrated by volunteers, donors, and workplaces, United Way can continue to support more than 125 vital social service programs throughout Niagara. Today we celebrate the accomplishments of the following 2021 Campaign Award winners. Congratulations!

Campaign of the Year

United Way is honoured to present Stolk Construction Ltd. with the 2021 Campaign of the Year Award, an award presented annually to an organization that achieved tremendous success in their workplace campaign.

This year, we are delighted to acknowledge Stolk Construction for conducting yet another successful employee giving campaign and demonstrating creativity and enthusiasm while doing so. What was already a successful campaign in 2020 saw an increase of nearly 50 per cent thanks to creative incentives and an overall commitment to the campaign by employees and leadership. We also acknowledge Stolk Construction’s unwavering support of United Way’s mission by helping increase visibility in the community, proudly displaying our logo on their vehicles to demonstrate our partnership and their commitment to building a stronger Niagara.

Committee of the Year

United Way is honoured to present The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation with the 2021 Committee of the Year Award, an award presented to a group of individuals that achieved tremendous success in their employee giving campaign by showing leadership, passion, originality and effort.

This year we are pleased to acknowledge The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation’s United Way Committee for conducting one of the most successful employee giving campaigns in the organization’s history. In a time where support has never been more important, this team rose to the occasion. While fundraising was made increasingly more difficult by the need to engage employees in a remote environment, the Seaway’s United Way Campaign Committee adapted, stepping up their creativity and as a result raised nearly $38,000. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of Committee members, the Seaway’s campaign adapted to a completely virtual format and despite initial challenges garnering support, finished the campaign off strong. Without their support, we could not have accomplished such a successful campaign. The Committee’s demonstration of teamwork and leadership has been evident as they’ve persevered through another challenging year.

Community Builder Award

United Way is honoured to present John Deere Canada ULC with the 2021 Community Builder Award, an award presented to an organization that has demonstrated tremendous support to United Way and the community we serve.

John Deere Canada embodies our mission in several ways as a loyal partner of United Way. Employees at John Deere have shown consistent support for United Way through an annual employee giving campaign, which in 2021 grew by 28 per cent. Not only does John Deere encourage financial support from their employees with a corporate matching program, they also invest corporately in vital programs aimed at helping the most vulnerable people in our community. We are grateful for the investments John Deere makes to our After Schools Matters programs for at-risk youth, the Backpacks for Kids programs which ensures youth have the essential tools to be successful in school, local food and community garden programs, as well as through sponsorship and participation in our annual events.

Longstanding Service Award

United Way is honoured to present Lancaster Chown & Welch LLP with the 2021 Longstanding Community Service Award, an award presented to an organization that has demonstrated exceptional support of United Way for a significant period of time.

Individually, the law firms that merged to form Lancaster Chown & Welch LLP this year have been incredible supporters of United Way for many years. As we celebrate the 2021 campaign, we are excited to recognize that now, together, they have continued to show their commitment to making Niagara a better place for all by supporting United Way Niagara. Even with many long-time supporters at LCW, the 2021 campaign had a nearly 70 per cent increase in employee participation. Additionally, we have been fortunate to have volunteers lend their time to United Way throughout the years and we are excited to continue this tradition of giving back to the local community. LCW’s generosity over the years and now, as a merged firm, is invaluable to our community.

Municipal Challenge

United Way congratulates the City of Niagara Falls, the 2021 Municipal Challenge winners. The Municipal Challenge Cup is awarded to the municipality with the highest rate of participation in their workplace employee giving campaign. The City of Niagara Falls was proud to do their part to support vital programs and initiatives that improve the well-being of so many in Niagara. The pandemic has been difficult for all of us, and city employees felt that it was “more important than ever to work together, supporting those in need, so we can do better.” Thank you, and congratulations, City of Niagara Falls!

Organization of the Year

United Way is honoured to present Niagara Regional Police Service with the 2021 Organization of the Year Award, an award presented to an organization that has achieved success by implementing essential best practices and that takes a strategic, well thought out approach to their workplace campaign.

We were thrilled to welcome Chief Bryan MacCulloch as this year’s Campaign Chair, but that wasn’t the only contribution from NRP. Through the addition of United Way presentations during training sessions and their unwavering commitment of Sponsored Employee, Constable Joanne Carter, NRP’s campaign saw an increase in fundraising in 2021. We were also grateful to welcome Akram Askoul, Director of Technology Services to our Board of Directors this past year, deepening the connection between our two organizations.

Congratulations to all of this years winners!
