What are Hygiene Kits?
Hygiene Kits provide access to every day essential items for those experiencing financial insecurity.
These items are challenging to access and expensive for people experiencing financial insecurity. United Way Niagara has responded to this community by providing Hygiene Kits for people who may be experiencing homelessness, living in shelters, living in poverty or in precarious situations. United Way has provided more than 8,400 hygiene kits to individuals since 2017.
By supporting individuals with these basic needs we are providing a sense of dignity to those who otherwise may not have access to these everyday items. When a person is able to care for their own personal hygiene, they are then able to focus on other important needs such as finding a home, employment and a sense of community.
Each kit contains…
- Shampoo
Conditioner
- Comb
- Deodorant
Floss
- Bar of soap
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
- Wash cloth
How to get involved
Sponsor your own packing party. Have you and your coworkers or a group of friends get together to help pack all of the supplies for the hygiene kits. There is an ongoing demand for hygiene supplies and we always need kits ready to give to people in the community.
