Volunteer Spotlight on Sandy Howe

Volunteer Spotlight on Sandy Howe

April 16, 2018

National Volunteer Week, which is from April 15-21, is a time to celebrate and thank our volunteers for all that they do. This year’s theme is to celebrate the value of volunteering- building confidence, competence, connections and community.

We asked Sandy what her 'aha' moment about United Way was, this is what she said:

"I had a major “aha” moment when I moved to Niagara eight years ago and began volunteering in a variety of places across our community. From Community Care and the Niagara Furniture Bank, to Start Me Up Niagara and the Distress Centre, there are so many amazing and hardworking staff members and volunteers providing incredible services to large portion of our local population. The need for these programs and services, as well as ways to fund and support them, really hit close to home as I know what barely making ends meet means personally. I believe in volunteering, supporting local, and finding ways to serve these organizations through my work – every little bit helps!"

We appreciate everything that you do Sandy, and we are happy to dedicate this year’s National Volunteer Week to you!
