Volunteer Spotlight on Lord Mayor Patrick Darte
National Volunteer Week, which is from April 15-21, is a time to celebrate and thank our volunteers for all that they do. This year’s theme is to celebrate the value of volunteering- building confidence, competence, connections and community.
We asked Patrick to tell us what his "aha" moment about United Way was, this is what he said:
"A friend asked me to tag along to a meeting and I agreed to go, having no idea what it was about. It turns out my friend forgot to mention I was a new member of the Campaign Cabinet and this was the first meeting! I always knew that United Way had a presence in the Niagara community, and my first meeting may have been a 'surprise', but I am so grateful to actively participate in such an amazing organization.
I was so proud to see local municipal staff and Councils take up the challenge to raise money for United Way last year and I look forward to all the great things United Way will do for the Niagara Region in 2018!"
We appreciate everything that you do Patrick, and we are happy to dedicate this year’s National Volunteer Week to you!
