Volunteer Spotlight on Heidi Burgess
National Volunteer Week, which is from April 15-21, is a time to celebrate and thank our volunteers for all that they do. This year’s theme is to celebrate the value of volunteering- building confidence, competence, connections and community.
We asked Heidi what her 'aha' moment about United Way was, this is what she said:
"One moment for me (and there have been many), was at a December gathering at an after school program. I had gone to help distribute books to the children at the end of the evening, and help out with their activities. That night we were making gingerbread houses, it didn’t take long to roll up my sleeves and watch with marvel the creations the children made…..there were multi-level houses, ones with more icing than house, and those with landscaped pathways, but I got the biggest giggle out of those that filled their houses with candy….
I love the time that I give to the United Way, and getting to see what an impact is made on our community.
Thanks United Way for letting me help out !"
We appreciate everything that you do Heidi, and we are happy to dedicate this year’s National Volunteer Week to you!
