A Flag Raising Ceremony of Niagara’s Twelve Municipalities
Every year, municipalities across the Niagara region are invited to raise the United Way flag to show their support and help us kick-off the annual fundraising campaign. The campaign fundraising goal will be announced at our Firetruck Pull Campaign Kickoff on September 10.
The United Way fundraising campaign is vital for Niagara, supporting local agencies and helping the most vulnerable individuals and families. Funds raised support our key priorities: Poverty to Possibility, All That Kids Can Be, and Healthy People, Strong Communities. Supported programs tackle issues like food insecurity, homelessness, gender-based violence, and mental health. Donor contributions directly improve lives and strengthen our community for everyone living here.
Raising the United Way flag is a symbolic gesture to show solidarity and support for a better Niagara. It signifies the commitment to the values and goals of United Way and for the community, it fosters a sense of unity and civic engagement, encouraging residents to get involved and contribute to making a positive difference.
This year, we are inviting leaders and representatives from each of Niagara’s twelve municipalities to one flag raising ceremony, symbolizing a shared commitment to improving Niagara as a whole.
Bringing all municipalities together at Niagara Region Headquarters to raise one flag underscores the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing local challenges and working towards common goals.
Please join us and show all of Niagara that we are stronger UNITED.

Logo Fun fact!
United Way’s logo was created in 1972 by Saul Bass, depicting the helping hand cradling mankind, surrounded by a rainbow symbolizing hope. The text uses a modern font where its letters have been joined together to reflect the idea of unity. It is a visual expression of who we are and what we stand for. It represents what we do, how we do it, and how we work together to create lasting change in Canadian communities.
