Special Events & Campaign Assistant

Reports to: Leadership Giving Officer & Campaign Manager
Type of Position: Seasonal, Full Time
Closing Date: May 20, 2019

The Special Events & Campaign Assistant will assist with the planning and execution of fundraising, recognition and campaign events. The position will also support the United Way annual fundraising campaign which raises funds towards poverty, independence, and children & youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of event and campaign marketing and communications materials
  • Assist with the promotion of fundraising events through social media
  • Solicit sponsorships and prizes from local businesses
  • Help track event RSVP's
  • Provide hands-on event-day support during events
  • Assist with event and campaign mailers
  • Data entry and support
  • Database updates and maintenance
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Office and Powerpoint
  • Experience with Adobe programs such as InDesign and Photoshop are considered an asset
  • Experience in event planning, communications, and marketing for a not-for-profit organization is an asset
  • 1-2 years demonstrated customer service experience is an asset

Requirements:

  • Between 18-30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • University or College student studying Event Management, Fundraising, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including daytime, evenings and weekends
  • Access to a vehicle

Length of Term:

June-August, 2019
